Literacy Council

Free instruction for adults who lack basic reading, writing, mathematics, or English skills.

The Literacy Council of Union County provides free instruction through trained volunteer tutors for Union County adults who lack basic reading, writing, mathematics, and/or English as a second language skills. In addition, the council provides help with filling out job applications and writing resumes. As needed, the council provides basic classes in computer/digital literacy, financial literacy, and health literacy.

The Literacy Council of Union County offers programs in Adult Basic English and English as a Second Language. Our mission is to empower our learners to gain the confidence and skills they need to become successful citizens in their community.

The goal of the Literacy Council is to reach those individuals in need of services, and in turn, impact not only them but also their families and their community.
